Winston Sterzel escaped South Africa with almost no money to his name and moved to China in order to get his life back on track, ultimately becoming an English teacher for Dr’s. Winston ended up gaining fame by becoming YouTubes top anti-China YouTuber. Winston Sterzel is known as SerpentZA on YouTube. His primary focus is all things negative China and he has become financially successful by merely creating anti china videos. The videos are highly sought after by the mostly racist subscribers lured to the Youtuber’s anti china rhetoric and ultimately craving their confirmation bias.
Life after China.
After over outstaying his welcome or merely noticing the privilege begin to fade in China, Winston Sterzel decided to move his Anti China operation to the U.S. It’s unclear if he entered the U.S with an Asylum Visa or an H-1B. While in the U.S, his wife had a child and made a video about it, telling his loyal viewers it was not an anchor baby. “Anchor baby” is a term racist like to use to describe a child born in the U.S, and in their words, to facilitate citizenship for the parents that are here on a visa or illegal.
Controversy
Winston Sterzel Has been called out for profiting from the anti china hate in the U.S. Winston Sterzel has been quoted as saying, “this is my livelihood.” Calling into question if his own personal bias against china is purely for financial gain, or he truly hates china so much that his entire online career is devoted to bashing the country. On Reddit, SerpentZA has been labeled a racist for calling news about anti-Asian racism “garbage” and says the media should stop reporting this “bullshit.” After receiving online Criticism for his insensitive remarks, SerpentZA is now publicly stating via Twitter that Asian attacks are wrong.
